Saint-Gaudens Commemorative Silver Medal
The Metal Arts Co. of Rochester New York created this silver medal with the approval of the Trustees of Saint-Gaudens Memorial to honor one of the greatest sculptors of all time. Robert Stephan Schabel designed the medal, 216 grams of .999 fine silver. Augustus Saint-Gaudens home in Cornish, New Hampshire are now a museum. The obverse is a depiction of Christopher Columbus as Saint-Gaudens envisioned him in a medal he did for the World's Columbian Exposition in 1892. On the reverse is shown Saint-Gaudens home "Aspet" and over the house, like a setting sun his famous Roman Date Double Eagle. Metal Arts serial number #51, in original box with paperwork.
