 Obv. Seated Industry leading on fly wheel instructs youth, Founding and Incorporation dates 1795, 1806 in exergue.
 
 Rev. Award engraved to Comm. Chauncey Thomas & Co./ for/ Brougham and Phaeton/ 1879. This Association began in early Federal times. It was dedicated to self-improvement, basic education and insuring a uniform standard of qualification for apprentices in various trades. Most award medals were bestowed at the exhibitions organized by the Association, and are known with dates between 1837 and 1892.
