27.0 mm, 9.1 grams, specific gravity 12.02, indicating 10K gold. This splendid piece has delicate and attractive blue and rose toning on its light yellow surfaces. Awarded to "Miss Marie H. Gorlinski for Collection of Water Color Paintings." Her obituary appeared in the December 29, 1938 issue of the Salt Lake Tribune in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the widow of Dr. Michael A. Hughes, born at Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 27, 1861, and a resident of Salt Lake City from 1872 to 1917. Her obituary notes: "Mrs. Hughes was well known in Utah art circles, having studied in Milan, Italy, and exhibited frequently here. Flower were her specialty. She was also active in Catholic social circles."
